Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) Certification Exam Preparation Course- This one-day virtual intensive oncology review is designed for nurses seeking OCN certification, recertification, or up-to-date general oncology knowledge, and professional growth.
Audience: RNs in clinical practice, nurse educators/faculty, and professional development leaders.

Learners Objectives:
Upon completion of this OCN Review Course, the learner will be able to:
- Analyze oncologic disease processes and risk factors to formulate evidence-based screening, prevention, and early detection strategies across diverse patient populations.
- Evaluate cancer treatment modalities, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, radiation, and surgical interventions, to anticipate side effects and safely manage administration protocols.
- Synthesize clinical assessment data to design comprehensive symptom management plans for common treatment-related side effects, including bone marrow suppression, mucositis, nausea, and peripheral neuropathy.
- Identify signs, symptoms, and diagnostic criteria of key oncologic emergencies (Superior Vena Cava Syndrome, Spinal Cord Compression, Tumor Lysis Syndrome, Neutropenic Fever) to initiate rapid clinical interventions.
- Apply ethical principles, palliative care principles, and survivorship guidelines to optimize quality of life and advocate for patient preferences across the continuum of care.
Accreditation Statement:
Lone Star Oncology is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the Louisiana State Nurses Association - Approver, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. To receive 9.0 Nursing Continuing Professional Development Hours for this activity, the participant must: Register for the review course, complete the pretest/pre-course before the course, attend the entire presentation in person or virtually, and complete the post-test and evaluation to earn 9.0 NCPD credits by December 15th, 2026.
